2016 was definitely a year of learning for me. Some of the biggest changes happened and lessons were learned. If I’m being completely honest, I feel like I could have done a bit more this past year when it came to accomplishing the things I wanted to. But looking back I think that it was a good “trial run” to see what I should do differently this year, and now looking forward, I can see what changes need to be made in order for me to really meet my goals. 2016 was the year I graduated from high school and made the big decision to not go to college in the fall. At first it was scary, (and sort of still is) only because I was now pursuing a career in photography completely on my own. I never regretted this decision, but by the end of the year, I began to realize just how much hard work was required to really get my business off the ground (no duh, Abby). So yeah, it did take me a few months to realize this, but hey, it’s January, a new year, and that means a new start, right? As terrifying as it is, with my career at stake and all, (no pressure or anything) I am glad that I chose to not go to college and to instead pursue my career. I just don’t see myself doing anything else; I have big dreams of what I want to accomplish in the next few years and I’m going to need all the time I can get to achieve those dreams. I can say confidently that I wouldn't change anything about the past year, and I do believe that I learned valuable lessons, and through realizing what I could have/should have done, God's been teaching me more about myself and showing me the things I need to grow in with His help.
The past few days I've been thinking about how great a year 2016 was, and I can't help but look forward to this coming year. I've still got some work and preparation to do, but I'm ready for it! I’ve just come back from being out of town, the holidays are over, and now it’s time for me to kick into full on work mode!
Along with a lot of small goals I have like eating healthier, and reading more books, etc. I also really want to create more than I ever have this year, as well as posting more of it here on the blog! So, keep an eye out, and here's to 2017!
In the mean time, here are some highlights from my year in pictures!
This year was filled with so many great day trips to the mountains and the beach, and some of the best concerts!
More day trips, graduating! And dating the best guy.
And of course the biggest trip of the year: LA!
A new part time job at the best coffee shop, great photoshoots, and more concerts.
New friends, adventures, a great Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years.
Hope everyone has an amazing year!!
